Private In-Home Training

Private training allows for you and your dog to be the entire focus of the customized program. Your dog’s behavior, environment and home life are all taken into consideration when developing your lesson plan. See below for examples of behaviors addressed in an in-home session. Note: behavior issues such as aggression, separation anxiety, and resource guarding require a behavior consult.

At Home

  • Jumping on visitors
  • Rushing the door at the ring of a bell
  • Difficulty with “go to mat”
  • Basic obedience like sit, stay, etc.

Life With Puppy

  • House-training accidents
  • Puppy biting and mouthing
  • Crate training, alone-time training
  • Socialization to people and dogs

Out & About

  • Pulling on leash
  • Not coming when called
  • Barking at other dogs or people
  • Not listening to direction

We start all new clients with an initial session. This is our chance to meet you, observe and meet your dog and begin training. This initial session is 1.5 hours. Payment is due at the initial session. Most of our clients meet with us more than once to build on skills and see progress over time. Follow-up sessions are 45 minutes and packages are available. Payment for future sessions is due at the end of the initial session by cash, check, or credit. Discounts are offered for multiple sessions if a package is purchased in full. Please note our packages must be used within a 6 month period from the time of purchase. Cancellations require 24 hour notice or you will be charged for the entire session.

Behavior Consultations

Behavior consultations differ from basic training in that training focuses on skills acquisition (eg, sit, down, stay), while behavior modification protocols focus on changing an animal’s emotional and behavioral reaction to particular triggers. These issues require additional expertise on the part of the trainer, and should your dog have a significant behavioral issue, weigh heavily on your choice of trainer.

Some common behavior problems that require a behavior consultation include:

  • reactivity to other dogs, people, or noises
  • fearfulness or extreme shyness
  • resource guarding

Prior to your behavior consultation, you will fill out a detailed behavior history to help prepare the trainer for their session. During the session, the trainer will observe your dogss behavior, evaluate the dog’s behavior through a series of tests, and discuss a management plan that will be instituted while a behavior modification plan is developed. Following the session, a written behavior plan will be provided to the client as well as a recommendation for future sessions.
Please note that there are no quick fixes when it comes to behavior modification. Success cannot occur without the hard work and dedication of the owner.
Cancellations require 24 hour notice or you will be charged for the entire session.
Behavior consultations last for 1.5 hours and payment is due at the time of the session.
Behavior Consultation: $140

Separation Anxiety:

We have recently redesigned our Separation Anxiety services. Our new protocol provides a 30 minute weekly remote check in and on-line support 5 days a week. Separation anxiety is stressful for both dog and owner and requires a tremendous amount of dedication. Please contact us for additional information.

  • You will receive an email that includes a link for a history form to fill out online. This form is required to be completed 48 hours prior to the behavior consultation.

Day Training

Day training is training in your home during the day while you are at work. We also work with you one-on-one to make sure that you can provide consistent training to your dog. It's like hiring a dog walker, except that your dog or puppy actually gets training and problem solving, rather than just exercise.

Who benefits from day training:

  • Puppy parents who can't stay home all day (we can help socialize your puppy, take him/her out to potty, and train).
  • Anybody short on time who wants to address jumping up, leash pulling, etc.
  • You!

Cancellations require 24 hour notice or you will be charged for the entire session.
Day training packages of 6 or 12 sessions are available. You can work with the trainer to determine how many times per week you like them to work with your dog. We typically find that 3 times/week is most effective when teaching new behaviors.
6 sessions: $480
12 sessions: $900 (savings of $60)

The Process:

  • Use this LINK or call 816-416-0655 to sign up for a package of 6 or 12 sessions. Please note: day training is NOT appropriate for aggressive or fearful dogs with a history of biting, please sign up for a behavior consultation.
  • You will receive an email that includes a link for a history form to fill out online. This form is required to be completed 48 hours prior to your first meeting.
  • Day training does not require an initial session like private in-home training, however, the duration of the first 45 minute session will focus solely on teaching you how to work with your dog and planning out the training schedule.
  • We will come to your home on a regular basis to train your dog for you.
  • Because dogs can unlearn what we've taught if you aren't consistent, we will meet with you bi-weekly to keep you updated on how to maintain your dog's progress.
